Farzana Ehetasum Hossain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, NSTU. 

ACADEMIC INTEND

I would like to learn to perform research independently to solve microbiological problems using advanced techniques of molecular biology through graduate studies.

TECHNICAL LEAD-INS

General Microbiology: Aseptic and sterile techniques, use of biological safety cabinets, media and buffer preparation, plating methods (streak, spread, pour, replica), bacterial staining, Light Microscopy, Colony Forming Unit (CFU) enumeration, Maintaining and preserving the bacterial cultures, Antagonism assay in solid and liquid media, use of selective media, antibiogram test

Analytical Microbiology: UV- spectrophotometry, Fermentation technology

Molecular Microbiology: DNA extraction, plasmid DNA preparation, restriction enzyme digestion, Rapid amplification of polymorphic DNA, PCR, Agarose gel electrophoresis, detection antibiotic antibiotic-resistant gene by gene-specific PCR, Cell Culture Technique, Virus Isolation in Cell Culture

Bioinformatics: Alignment tools including BLAST, ClustalW/X, Phylogenetic inference software including SeqMan, MEGA, PCR Primer designing tools, Three Dimensional Structure prediction tools such as PyMol and Protein modeling, Designing CRISPR Guides, Next generation sequencing theory (learning stage)
