Dr. Khandokar Fahmida Sultana is currently working as an Associate Professor pursuing both academic and research in the Department of Microbiology at the Noakhali Science and Technology University in Bangladesh. She completed her doctorate in Microbiology at the year of 2022. Her PhD thesis was focused on the genetic variability of circulating pathogenic Salmonella and the trend of antibiotic resistance in poultry. She has established a SYBR GREEN real-time based approach for identifying Salmonella from raw samples. She used the Multi-Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) approach to characterize the resistant Salmonella using seven housekeeping genes. Her study addressed three ST types of Salmonella, of which ST11 was the first to be reported from Bangladesh.

As an academic researcher, she is now conducting three consecutive projects as PI and co-PI’s. She works to learn more about the increasing antibiotic resistance among clinical and environmental microbes.
